$1 a year for AA battery.

If I recharged every week (which I don’t because these NiMH batteries seem to have a longer useful voltage plateau than ni cads) 500 recharges would take 10 years to see out the average life of the eneloops. For substantially less than $10 each, that’s less than $1 a year compared to, say $1 each for disposables. No contest.
